Includes a 2 August 1911 letter to Dr. John G. Clem stating that the original of the cartoon which Dr. Clem wanted was in the mail; a 21 December 1936 letter to George Morse discussing his old drawings that Morse had included in a scrapbook; three letters dated 25 April 1939, 8 December 1939, and 8 March 1941, to Leonard L. Levinson of Los Angeles, California, discussing cartoons drawn by Fox, one original cartoon is included; and a 23 May 1960 letter to Will Hession recalling his early days in Louisville, with a caricature on the bottom of the letter, and a page from a 1910 magazine giving biographical data on Fox.

A native of Louisville, Ky., Fontaine Fox was a cartoonist best known for his "Toonerville Trolley" series of cartoons. He worked for newspapers in Louisville and Chicago and later moved to New York when his work was syndicated to about three hundred newspapers.
